Incorporating Literature in Math

My students need several books which relate math to literature such as: Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi, Sir cumference and the Sword in the Cone, Sir cumference and the First Round Table, Sir cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland, Sir cumference and the Isle of Immeter, Mummy Math, Patterns in Peru, a Math Literature Colelction and a math literature collection resource book.

Help Mrs. Norman

Math can be fun, but it doesn't come easily for my kids. My school is a very rural school with 98% of the children receiving free or reduced lunch. The students I teach are African-American 6-8 graders. They attend a regular math class and then come to me for remediation. My students have the lowest test scores of all the children in our school.

The majority of my kids come from broken homes with multiple brothers and sisters. They rarely have school supplies because their parents cannot afford to purchase them.

I need several literature books which incorporate math in order to build my students' interest in the subject. The books are Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi, Sir Cumference and the Sword in the Cone, Sir Cumference and the First Round Table, Sir Cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland, Sir Cumference and the Isle of Immeter, Mummy Math, a math literature collection, and a math literature collection resource book. These books are fun and at the same time provide children with the math concepts needed to succeed.

Your help will ensure that my struggling students receive the extra help they so desperately need. They will be incorporating literature in math. Not only will you be helping them with their math, but also with their reading.
