Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a beautifully unique and vibrant group of students. My 5th graders are eager to learn and always up for a challenge. Their biggest strength as a group is their ability to show compassion and kindness.

Since we are a Title 1 school, my students are not always afforded the resources that they deserve.

I believe that my students deserve more. Their determination and perseverance speak wonders about what they can achieve if given the proper opportunities, resources, and care.

My Project

My students absolutely love to collaborate in groups. They partake in rich discussion and problem solve in groups we call "pods." In order to partake in group work (guided reading, writing, and mathematics), students need certain materials that the whole group can have access to such as sentence strips and anchor chart paper, which can be quite costly if used often.

Students learn best when they are actively working in groups with their peers.

During this time, their minds are fully engaged while taking part in accountable talk and problem-solving. I would love to provide my students with more opportunities for collaborative enrichment if given the proper materials to ensure that they are given meaningful tasks that can be displayed throughout the classroom. This way, they can also admire each other's work!
