This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Literacy is beyond important. It is the foundation of any subject and a gift my students will carry far after I'm gone. “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin.

My students are amazing, inquisitive individuals.

They're sweet and always find a way to brighten up even the darkest of days. Most of them come from low-income households and many have only recently come to the country .

I want to have the chance to give them the gift of books and basic classroom essentials!

My Project

My students come from all different cultural backgrounds. During their culture project last week, they were overjoyed when we read Cinderella stories from different countries. It made me realize just how much representation matters to them and how eager they were to read the stories of men and women who looked like them. I'd love to boost their reading by having books that pique their interest and further their cultural knowledge!

By having a variety of books, I can open up the doors of learning much farther than the realms of my classroom!
