My Students

I was recently assigned to teach second-grade math and science at a Pre-K through 5th-grade school in North Miami Beach. Most of my students are in high poverty and have limited technology at home. Most of our students daily face the challenge of coming to school without basic supplies.

Most students do not even have computer access at home.

My students are always excited to use technology in the classroom, and, when we do center activities, they rush for the computers to explore online math and science resources. For most of our students, Internet access and the use of computers are a luxury that they do not have at home.

My Project

This school year, a lot has changed technology-wise. Much to our disappointment, Chromebooks are no longer compatible with or working with our school's broadband. We were told that only Apple or Microsoft devices were supported which means that many teachers, including me, have devices that our students can no longer utilize in the classroom.

Your donation would allow me to replace a Chromebook with a Lenovo touchscreen laptop for our math center.

I am requesting one student laptop at a time until I have replaced all 7 Chromebooks.

Our students are not allowed to share supplies or materials due to the pandemic and having another device would help me add a child to our math center in a safe and healthy way while social distancing.
