My amazing students come to school eager to learn and ready to do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can to be successful one day. As a teacher at a Title I school, my students are faced with several challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide an engaging student-centered classroom experience that encourages learning and keeps my students relaxed.
My Project
A positive classroom climate is so important for students. The purchase of these items will help me create a classroom that will encourage self acceptance, inclusion, and diversity within my classroom for my students. I have started implementing diverse texts and lessons within my weekly lessons. Having a classroom at the beginning of the year that supports inclusion will be a constant reminder to my students that it is SO important.
I want my students to feel safe, welcoming, and supportive for student learning.
Some of my students struggle with knowing they are accepted for who they are. Seeing the affirmations and pictures around my classroom will be a constant reminder of who they are and what they can be.
I also plan to purchase new book boxes for my classroom. The ones I have currently are breaking and make it difficult for my classroom library to stay organized and welcoming for my students. They have a hard time picking books that interest them for their independent reading time.
