Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher of reading and writing, I have come to understand the importance of having a well-stocked classroom library. This resource is essential to promote literacy. Having a diverse collection of literature in a classroom will not only foster academic growth and achievement but also assist students in becoming life-long readers. Literature is so much more than just a form of entertainment; it carries truths and allows students to enter new worlds, to make sense of their own world, and to truly ponder what it means to be human. Students need stories to help them make sense of the world around them, which is why it is essential for students to have access to literature. Books are windows into different worlds, which is why it is essential for classrooms to have a myriad of books, especially books centered on a range of characters.

Students should have access to inclusive LGBTQ+ books because it helps students feel represented in the classroom and because it helps them develop empathy for others.

That is why I am requesting books about members of the LGBTQ+ community because I want to help make our classroom library a bit more inclusive. Your donation could help generations of students become more accepting, thus helping make our world a kinder place, one child at a time.

Please help diversify our classroom library so that all students will feel represented in the literature they read and help foster empathy for others.

Thank you for your time!
