My Project

I have been lucky and blessed enough to get a book vending machine, just like this Inchy the Bookworm machine with custom graphics for two other schools in the last ten years. I recently moved to a middle school and realized quickly that this school needs a bit of a reset. These kids have not had full library access OR classroom libraries for FIVE YEARS (I know it's tragic.... cue the Taylor Swift song!). Due to Covid and then some political movements, they have been bookless for a GIANT span of their little learning lives. Say, they are in sixth grade, the last time they were able to feel the magic of checking out a real or virtual copy of a book may have been FIRST GRADE!

Please help me on my mission of re-igniting this middle school's passion for learning and especially literacy by helping us get this Inchy the Bookworm vending machine, to be filled with FREE books for our students for their birthdays, meeting classroom goals, and accomplishing PBIS milestones!

Imagine, it's the morning of your birthday and you get to school and immediately get to visit our new shiny, custom-wrapped vending machine filled with free, YES FREE, chapter books. You get a golden Inchy coin to insert into the coin slot and select your favorite book, Wimpy Kid from slot S5, the vending machine whirs to life, the coil twists, and VOILA you get a book of your very own to KEEP. Not only do you get one on your birthday, but for behavior goals, academic goals, and random acts of kindness as well! Please help me make this dream a reality for a thousand students this school year!
