My Students

My classroom is an active, vibrant, exciting place of learning, where students come to drink deep and leave full of knowledge. Help me to make their cups (and pints, quarts, and gallons!!!) overflow each day with these awesome books!

My students attend a small, inner-city, Title I school in South Carolina.

Our school, while filled with over 70% free and reduced lunch, strives everyday to push our students to new heights! We engage our students with the Arts, wow them with our curriculum, and put their hands on every lesson. They are curious learners...like little sponges, soaking up every bit of information I can give them. They LOVE science and social studies, but their favorite is math! I work overtime trying to go deeper and get more for their wondering minds.

My Project

Every year as I teach my measurement unit, I struggle to teach all of the state standards in a timely manner while teaching all the other subjects. In order to make better use of my time and give the students more time to practice their measurement skills I would like to integrate literature and math with these class sets of measurement books. By integrating math and literature I will be doubling the amount of time spent on measurement skills such as length, weight, capacity, and time. My students love math and want more time for exploratory learning. With these books, I will be able to do just that!

These books will be a crucial part of math and literature integration.

They will help me to give students the extra time they need to explore the world of measurement. Please help my students to be successful by funding this project!
