Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Each year, I reward my students for positive behaviors such as passing exams, winning review games, participating during class, etc. I challenge my students to hold themselves accountable by maintaining good grades throughout the semester. I am requesting the gift cards to be used as incentives and rewards. The students who have the highest grade average in each class at the end of the semester are allowed to choose from a variety of gift card options.

Even though they're high school students, they love to be recognized and rewarded!

I know that students love to shop on Amazon, so I have requested Amazon gift cards to help students with their future purchases. The Starbucks gift cards have been requested by students in the past and will be awarded to those who have maintained the top grade. Many students rely on DoorDash, so I am hoping that the gift cards help alleviate the stress of how expensive DoorDash orders can be. I also requested the Dominos, Ulta, Jersey Mikes, and Subway gift cards to provide the students with a variety of options when they're rewarded. This is something I have done the last three years, and I love watching the students work hard to maintain their grades, as they really do look forward to being incentivized for their hard work. Additionally, the collapsable wagon is to transport classroom items and materials when necessary. The desk organizer will be used by the students to help sort their assignments and classroom materials. Here's to grooming the future, one child at a time!
