My Students

My school is a Title I school that serves amazing students and every student at our school receives free breakfasts and lunches.

My first grader students are wonderful and fun-loving 6-7 year olds. They are very interested in learning and loves to come to school to learn! This is my first year teaching and I love coming to school daily to see my students' happy and excited faces.

My Project

"One kind word can change someone's entire day" -The Golden Rule

I am learning about PBIS (positive behavior intervention and supports).

That means that I want to support my students' behavior by using positive reinforcement instead of focusing on the negative.

My 1st graders are stressed and struggle to make good choices as they learn to navigate all the changes. I am a strong believer that PBIS and rewards for making good choices are important for my students as they learn how how to be in school and follow school rules. I am asking for student incentives such as a mini claw machine and prizes for my 1st graders so they can earn a chance to play the claw machine each time they make good choices. I want to celebrate and recognize my students' positive behaviors so it can boost their confidence and makes them happy and healthy for learning.
