My Project

My name is Ms. Ellis. I am a new teacher, and this is my second year as a 6th-8th grade emotional support teacher. My students love recognition in the classroom! Several times throughout the day I allow them to pick out treats to help keep them motivated and eager to learn. For my students who are behaviorally and academically challenged food-based, snacks are used as an extra boost of encouragement to strive for success. Using food-based incentives in the classroom influences and reinforces positive behavior. For example, students will complete assignments if they know they are working for treats and trinkets.

These snacks will serve as/to:

Motivation and Engagement: Food incentives can serve as immediate rewards that motivate students to participate, complete assignments, or excel in their studies. These rewards can capture students' attention and encourage them to put in more effort.

Positive Behavior Reinforcement: Food rewards can reinforce positive behavior in the classroom, such as following rules, respecting peers and teachers, and actively participating in discussions.

Celebration of Achievements: Providing food incentives for reaching academic milestones or accomplishing specific goals can create a sense of celebration and achievement among students.

Boosting Morale: Well-received food incentives can enhance students' morale, making them feel valued and recognized for their efforts.

Creating a Positive Atmosphere: Sharing food incentives during group activities can foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among students.
