This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos are exceptional students who are curious about the world around them. My students love to change up the pace during the day and they enjoy getting really creative with new things. Many of my students face challenges in their personal lives but still come to school daily ready to learn and do their very best.

Being 5 years old and starting school comes with many challenges, especially during this uncertain time.

For a kindergartener, this is already a very scary time and on top of everything else going on in the world right now, it is so important I can provide my students with the resources and tools they will need to thrive as new learners.

I have been a teacher for 7 years now and have loved every second of it. Unfortunately, many of the things I use have been bought out of my own pocket or donated to me from previous educators. DonorsChoose has helped me receive more of what I need without having to spend my own money on these projects for my kiddos.

My Project

Help me provide incentives for my students! I have added mostly prizes, along with a few other items that will boost morale in our classroom! My students can play games like the pop it board and gumball game to help them advance in their math goals. Aside from that, most of what I put on our wish list are incentives and prizes that students can earn when they do a great job!

My students love working hard for rewards.

Anytime they meet an academic or behavior goal, I would like the opportunity to reward them for that. The more prizes I have the better selection they can choose from and the more likely they will be to work towards their individual goals. The fidget toys like pop-its are very popular right now, and the light up items are a hot item that peaks kids interest too. Not only that, but a lot of the items I chose also had the idea in mind that our social emotional teacher works with our students regularly on using tools like squeezing a squish ball or using a pop-it to calm down when they get overwhelmed. So these incentives will also provide tools to help with those great resources our SEL teacher will provide them.

Allowing my students to have something to work towards once they meet their goals, will help me ensure they "keep their eyes on the prize", both literally and figuratively.
