My Students

I love my fifth graders! Our Title I school in New York City is comprised of a diverse group of students, a large majority of whom receive free lunch.

Our students are very energetic and have very different learning styles, abilities, and needs.

Many of our students have learning disabilities, and some have fallen behind since the COVID-19 pandemic.

We need to encourage both group work, especially during these times, and independent work so our students can succeed academically and socially. In order to achieve today, we want to help our students overcome the new challenges that the past year and a half have imposed upon them. To do this, we have to appeal to our students' interests by staying up-to-date with technology and literature.

My Project

In order to encourage and motivate students who come to school and work hard, I would like to give students a fun incentive. Mochi squishy animals, mini-notebooks, and water bottle stickers to help increase participation and recognize achievements. It would be nice to recognize students who make good choices and reward them with prizes that they will enjoy. We want to motivate our students to achieve academic success. Incentives will help our students become more self-aware of their efforts and progress. Rewards will help our scholars develop a sense of pride!
