Middle school is one of the hardest times for kids. Not only are they insecure about their looks, but they are also afraid to make a mistake when participating in class. My students no exception. They are very timid when it comes to reading and participating in class, but when offered a reward, their eyes light up.
Many students do not have much of a support system at home, so when they come to school and feel encouraged and motivated to work, amazing things happen.
When offered a treat or reward, kids will come out of their comfort zone and be more willing to try to interact with the lessons being taught. These rewards will open doors for students who have never felt noticed or valued.
I am so excited to be able to reach my struggling students who need a boost in their self esteem. With these items, I will be able to recognize students for their ambition and drive and hopefully motivate them to continue the fight. They have so much potential and I want them to see it and feel good about themselves.
