My Project

At our school, we constantly consider how to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for every child. Our 5th graders bring their hearts, souls, brains, and very active bodies to school every day. Their joy, love for learning, and each other shines through in their work and collaboration. Our classroom is bursting with books, materials, and games that honor each child’s unique identity and approach to learning. "In the Right Space" seeks to upgrade the eating and materials we use to create a physical environment that supports the diverse physical and sensory needs in an individual, small group, and whole group instruction.

Active wobble chair seating helps children who fidget when seated; for kids who are super-energetic or have concentration problems, it’s a natural and fun way to get them to focus on the task at hand.

It acknowledges kids' need to move, but simultaneously keeps them sitting still enough so teachers and other students can keep going as normal.

Lap desks give students hard writing surface for working on the in the large meeting area and promote student choice in seating. Students and teachers can quickly and spontaneously create groups on the floor or benches without wasting on-task time by constantly rearranging furniture.

By funding these items, you'll be helping wonderfully wiggly and curious 5th graders get themselves in the right space for learning for years to come!
