My Students

My students are what I like to call phenomenal. They are a small group of the population that live a very different life than the majority. My students are kids who have more worries than most adults, more responsibilities than there parents take on, while also carrying the task of graduating. My students are intelligent, and determined. They want to learn, they simply just need love paired with someone who wants them to succeed. This school year will be a little different for a great deal of my students, Hurricane Harvey left quite a bit of us without.

I am their art teacher and I want my classroom to be a refuge to them.

I want them to come into my classroom knowing they can relax, express themselves, and take everything from the outside world and creatively release. This school year will be a little different for a great deal of my students, Hurricane Harvey left quite a bit of us without. I believe now more than ever, they need a release.

My Project

I have two painting classes with very little paint, this paint will allow my students to actually participate in what the class should provide, painting and experimenting with color. This also applies to the canvas and multi media paper. The sculpture wire will give my students and I the opportunity to experiment with sculpture as an art form. The colored pencils, charcoal, markers and pens will give my students in my drawing and studio classes to use materials other than regular pencils. They deserve the opportunity to learn about different styles of art in order for them to understand what types of materials they like to use in order for them to create. I have very little supplies, and art needs supplies. My students deserve to be able to learn about who they may be as an artist!
