Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Passion for the written word is a wonderful love to have. My students love to read. Each day when my students walk in they choose a book they like from the library and dive in the the magical worlds written on their pages. Many cannot afford their own books from home. I would like to give them more.

Many of our students come from lower Social-Economical Homes.

They cannot afford a lot of the school supplies or even more books to read at home. I like to have a well stocked classroom library for that reason. I would like for them to have access to great literature to feed their growing young minds. I enjoy my student's creativity on their projects. I like to guide them to bring to life their ideas to share with the rest of the class. Our school tries to host as many fundraisers as possible to afford access to many different resources to help our students succeed. I would like to try to find access to some more resources to help my students succeed, not just in school, but in their future as students. My students are very driven. They love to learn. They approach each lesson wild eyed and ready to soak up more knowledge. For this reason I love to give my students every opportunity to excel that I am able. Our school is very college driven. They like to see students succeed.

My Project

I instill a great sense of creativity in my classroom. I like for my students to show what they learn through interactive student notebook assignments. I would like the camera and the cricut machine to help the students show what they have learned. I feel that giving them access to more tools will broaden the way they can put things together in a greater scale. The printers would also be a great tool for my students. They will be able to add clipart and their photographs in color to their interactive notebooks. They can also print out projects we do in class. The FCAT practice books would be a great tool to use with my students who are struggling in Reading. I really would like to offer my students every available resource to pass the FCAT this year. I am hoping that these items will bring my students one step closer to success in their sixth grade school year. This is a very important year for my students. This is a huge adjustment. I really would like to see them succeed.

I know that having these items available to my students will have a positive impact on them.

It will give them access to many item that they do not have at home and it will broaden their horizons as far as their creativity can take them. I am positive that this will also improve student motivation and self-esteem, which are very difficult things to build in middle school. I would love for these donations improve the quality of work the students produce.
