Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I located in the South Bronx in a very deprived neighborhood. My students are kids full of enthusiasm and an infinite passion for learning. They love hands-on learning, and to create, build and let their imagination run away. They always come to school with a smile on their faces ready to learn and give their best effort every day. For them, our classroom is the place in which they feel free to let their imagination and creativity fly, but most of all it is the secure environment to enhance their learning. Each and every student in my classroom is unique and as their teacher I have the responsibility to meet all my students’ needs. They are an amazing group of kids with so much to offer and as Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

My Project

These audio books will allow my Special Needs students to choose from a variety of fictions and nonfiction titles that interest them. It will also improve their stamina and build up the vocabulary they need to read more challenging books on their own.

These audio books will continue to enhance their stamina and vocabulary that I try hard for them to learn.

Reading and listening to books is something that my students really enjoy; they love to read books in the quiet area. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have seen the different titles that interest them; however the books that are provided in our library are above their reading levels. With these audio books they will be able to follow along as they learn the vocabulary words they are struggling with. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.

With these audio books, my special needs students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read at ease independently. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. I truly believe that the best way to increase and motivate their reading abilities is by reading more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
