My Students

I teach in a high school special education Cafe class. My students have a wide array of disabilities, however this does not stop them from coming into school every day with smiles on their faces. When people walk into our school run cafe they can't help but smile while watching the students hard at work. The students are friendly and hardworking, and truly the best group of kids I am lucky enough to teach.

Their school day is a full day of work and they NEVER give up.

My students prepare and cook lunch and (sometimes breakfast) for the school staff and students every day. They take orders from customers, walk around the school selling snacks, prepare food, deliver food, and even use the cash register to charge customers.

Throughout the entire day, the students are able to work on their social skills, money skills, daily living skills, and so much more. More importantly, they are able to feel proud of what they are accomplishing on a daily basis.

My Project

Ipads will help my students in so many ways...

-They will help show a detailed list of which items the cafe are running low on and what we need to refill soon

-Help keep organized grocery lists for when we go shopping each week

- Can use surveys and charts while making deliveries to show which meals are most popular

- Help initiate conversations with my students who have difficulty

-Help calculate total cost of an item and make change

The Ipads will be helpful in having the students complete their everyday jobs as well as help them become accustomed to the technology that is being used outside of school.
