Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This coming fall I will be switching positions to 2nd Grade Dual-Language English. I will be giving instruction to two separate groups of students, half are proficient in English learning Spanish, and half are proficient in Spanish learning English.

The population at my school is mostly Hispanic/Latino with many English language learners.

A lot of these students live in poverty and have huge gaps in their education prior to coming to the United States. Spanish is often the only language spoken at home.

My Project

These headphones and whiteboard will be used if not in the fall, hopefully in the spring. Headphones are crucial for students in a classroom and it is challenging for many parents to provide a good pair of headphones due to financial circumstances. I teach many English learners and listening to text, audio, or videos greatly improves their English language skills.

A large whiteboard is necessary in any classroom to provide visuals, help make connections as well as promote student engagement and interaction.

Our school is over one hundred years old and still has chalkboards on all walls, which is messy and terrible for our many students who suffer from asthma.
