My Project

Music and language skills are intimately related and by incorporating piano music into our language-based classroom students of all ability levels will be given the opportunity to develop self-expression and a lifelong love of music. Research proves that the new neurons and connections that form when playing piano are used for functions other than playing the piano. For example, improved hand-eye coordination, stress relief, encourages creativity, improved language and communication skills, improved attention span and all while promoting brain development. The list of benefits is endless.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student language skills, you will ultimately help to increase their overall academic achievement.

My students absolutely love music and because they do, I continue to look for new ways to excite them about learning. Having a portable electric piano in the classroom will benefit students of all ages and ability levels while improving their behavior and ability to self-regulate. Music is an effective way to help my students with Autism process information while helping them make sense of the world around them. The rhythm of piano music will help soothe and relax students in a non-threatening way providing stimulation and calming sensory input.

I have seen firsthand how music positively impacts every dimension of my students’ learning and development and incorporating “live” piano music into their daily lives will be extremely valuable and “electrifying.”
