My Students

I am a first year APE (Adapted Physical Education) teacher for students with disabilities at an elementary school. I am also new to Donors Choose which is a great resource to help support our students. My objective is to allow my students to become independent and learn new skills.

My students range from 3-5 grade and are very delightful.

They are energetic and love to participate in physical activities. They are fascinated by new equipment and having a variety of visual or tactile equipment will benefit them in many ways. We would like to thank you in advance again for any and all contributions.

My Project

The students will use the equipment to work on their gross and fine motor skills. This basically means they will be able to strengthen and control their body to become more proficient in sports and daily life skills. Learning to perform different activities will help my students play outside of the school setting for the rest of their lives. For example, the basketballs will help with eye-hand coordination when dribbling and tracking when catching a pass from a partner. It also helps improve finger strength which is needed to grasp pens/pencils and hold utensils while eating. The baseballs will help students work on targeting and tracking skills. The launcher will help students work on eye-foot coordination along with eye-hand coordination. The spots will help students learn spatial awareness and the hopper ball will give students sensory input when they are aggravated, helping them learn self control. Fleece balls are good for partner work relating to catching and throwing.

We would be very grateful for any donation; even one new additional piece of equipment to our physical education program will put a smile on my students' faces and will help them enjoy new activities.
