Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

No two days are the same in my classroom. As a leadership teacher and Activities Director for the entire school I consider every student, my student. The students in my class are responsible for building school spirit, organizing events, and sharing community service opportunities with students.

Our school is a country wide magnet serving just under a thousand students in grades 8-12 from throughout Miami-Dade county.

Over the course of the next two years our school will grow to over 1,900 students in size. Bright and energetic our students are active in a range of extracurricular clubs and activities all of which are supported by my classroom. Students enrolled in my class are taking a course called Leadership where they not only learn about leadership principles but put them into practice.

My Project

My students need a PA system to improve communication and school spirit at school. The materials being requested have been chosen because of their potential for improving communication between students and student leaders. The PA equipment will allow students to make announcements in our lunch room and during special events, something that is impossible for us to do at the current time.

Communication may very well be the most important skill students can learn.

Without the ability to share what is going between groups and students a school very quickly becomes isolated pockets rather than a cohesive unit. These tools will improve the communication between our students and between our faculty and students. It will be available to the entire school population and will facilitate communication for all stakeholders
