My Students

As a teacher, providing the most effective and meaningful instruction to all of my students is my main objective. My secondary school needs better technology and a document camera would allow for authentic modeling and differentiation for all of my classes.

My students are amazing.

They come from all parts of New York City to attend a selective school meant to provide a rigorous education and close the achievement gap. They are eager to learn and succeed and they inspire me everyday with the hard work they put forth.

My Project

A document camera is simply a camera that hooks into a computer or projector and allows all students in the classroom to see what you're doing in the front of the room in real time. Why is this important? Imagine trying to learn how to fix a car engine without ever actually ever seeing an engine? Learn an instrument without ever seeing someone play it? Sounds difficult. With a document camera, I can model effective writing and critical thinking right in front of the students! Instead of having to pre-write paragraphs on chart paper and place them on the wall, I can simply hold a print out under the camera. I can also show exemplary student work and allow the students to see my thought process as I model writing right there on the camera. The importance of a device that allows students see and emulate good writing cannot be understated. This will allow for the most effective instruction and with your help, my students will be able to perform to the best of their abilities

CSS is a wonderful school, but like most inner city schools, it is underfunded and lacks resources that schools in other districts find commonplace.

As many teachers do, I have already put my own money into classroom resources. My most recent purchase was a projector, a tool that is now considered a given in the typical classroom that my classroom lacked. Unfortunately, I cannot afford a document camera. Please support my classroom by helping us purchase a document camera. Thank you so much!
