This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a special education classroom made up of students who are autistic. Our school is located in a low income area in the Bronx.

Everyone in my classroom works hard to create a positive learning environment for the students.

In order for my classroom to run smoothly, we have a structured environment where students have clear visual boundaries for different areas. Each student learns differently and we adapt everything to meet their individual needs.

We strive hard for our students to succeed and be independent!

My Project

The materials I am asking for will help increase my students fine motor skills. Some of the supplies will be used as a prerequisite activity for holding a pencil and writing. These activities will also help with my students who have a hard time attending to a task. Since these activities are colorful and fun they will grab their attentions and make it easier for them to complete the task.

Some of my students have a hard time getting dressed independently, the Learn to Dress Playboards will help them learn those skills that they need.

The puzzles will be used to help my students build their academic focus and productivity. We work on this as a prerequisite for more difficult and longer tasks.

The math activities will be used to help them understand number sense. This is the earliest stage of math. That way they can improve upon their math skills.
