Impoverished Parents in Need of Computers

My students need 3 laptops. Students will be able to take these laptops home to access the internet, books, homework assignments, and the school website. Without this access, parent home connections will be very difficult.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school, which means that the students are economically disadvantaged. We are a public school in Brooklyn, but have adopted the mantra of the SEEALL Academy.

In today’s educational society, almost everything is done online.

Without access to computers, children and parents are unable to view the school's website and keep abreast on events happening all year long. They cannot fill out required forms in their home language online, and they do not have access to online readers, curriculum, websites and so much more. If they had access to a laptop when they needed one, they would have more opportunities to thrive.

My Project

This project will make a tremendous impact of my students because it will give them the ability to have their own household laptop. I teach at a Title I school where over 80% of our population lives in poverty. Students and parents need access to computers for all aspects of student life.

These three laptops that I have requested will allow students to work on assignments at home.

Also, parents will be able to take a laptop home without judgement and complete all necessary forms, assignments, and interact with their students' teachers on their own time.

Due to their busy work schedule, parents are often unable to attend important events. With computer access, these parents will have an easier time communicating with the school.
