Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 18 three and four-year-olds are kind, bright, and inquisitive. For many of them, this is their first formal schooling experience. They attend a Title 1 funded school, which is a federal education program that supports low income students, in Washington Heights, NY. I am creating a classroom that permits students to expand their imagination, explore, grow, and learn, all while being in a safe, supportive, and loving environment. Thank you for helping make my dream come true.

My Project

Dollhouses allow for creative, open-ended play, where students can take on various roles and engage in a wide range of scenarios. They provide important educational benefits for intellectual and social development, as well as opportunities to practice life skills and gain a better understanding of themselves, as well as those around them. Playing with dolls solidifies social skills that are gained in a child's early developmental years. When children are engaged in imaginary play they are able to freely investigate and learn about the world around them. We currently have an old dollhouse with no furniture so a new one with furniture would be a beautiful addition to our classroom!
