Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I see my students faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. One hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their socioeconomic status.

Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school ready and eager to learn, to be loved, to be accepted, and to be in a safe place.

We live in a rural community and the students do not have the opportunities that are offered at other schools. I want to provide them with lessons that make connections with the standards they are learning.

My Project

I believe students learn through play. I know this is just my opinion but if you are a teacher that uses STEM toys you have seen the impact of learning this has on your students. My students are more engaged in learning when creating and building.

They love to build and create.

They don't even know that they are learning because they are having so much fun. I love creating engaging lessons for my Kindergarten class. These students learn how to build, how to share, and how to get along with other students when participating in STEM lessons.

It is a joyful experience as a teacher to watch students learn through playing and creating. It makes my heart very happy!!
