My Students

Seven years ago I moved to Nashville, Tennessee with little to no knowledge of the demographics or population. I quickly learned that Nashville is immensely diverse and I am fortunate to teach at a school that represents over twenty countries and five languages.

Our students are all threads to a beautifully woven tapestry honoring their Somali, Egyptian, Hispanic, and European cultures.

They are tenacious, fearless, and curious learners but above all, THEY are the best teachers I could ask for.

My Project

In order to give our students more options for social emotional experiences, imaginative play, and opportunities to collaborate, we need to build more choice centers.

After a year at home students need more ways to connect and build relationships with their peers.

In the Learning Lab they work in independent centers as well as small group intervention. Our K-1 students will be engaging in developmental play while 2-4 graders will be participating in social centers.

These options would build onto the materials we have to allow students to pick what they want to do during their centers.
