My Students

A child's imagination is a magical place; there is no doubt about it. In my classroom, I appreciate the imagination of each child and deeply want to support the children in turning their imagination and creativity into something tangible. I want to provide for them an "Imagination Art Station."

I am a kindergarten, general education teacher.

I teach a group of 19 fabulous students in a great area of South Carolina. Being that this is only my 8th year teaching, I am constantly trying to acquire the materials necessary to provide the best experience for each child in my classroom. I am teaching at a new school with a limited amount of supplies and a budget that allows for little creativity because of the current economic crisis.

My Project

My biggest shortcoming falls in my art center. I simply do not have the materials for students to be able to freely produce art or express themselves in any way. I spent most of my time and money focusing on other needs in our classroom such as books and paper, but have neglected the materials that students need to be able to respond to books and work through experiences. My students need various art materials such as paint, paintbrushes, feather, glitter and wiggly eyes so they will be able to make art happen each and every day! Our art center is lacking, and is not conducive to producing any kind of art right now.

With your help, we could turn our art center into a place that the children want to come to.

They will respond to lessons and learn through art. By providing funding for this proposal, you will allow my students to experience art and learn how to better express themselves!
