Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school in a highly diverse, low economic area. My students simply do not have the opportunity or funds (from their families) to have educational toys to teach them everyday activities.

At my school, my students rarely have the opportunity to play with hands on toys or manipulatives. They have very little to play with at home. I would like to provide opportunities for them to play at school while learning at the same time!

A pretend play kitchen and play food will allow the students to practice their everyday oral language skills and build upon every day items we use and take for granted. A lot of my students don't know everyday household hold items or activities. Having a play kitchen and play food will allow them to express their knowledge of use and learn proper everyday uses.

You will make each and every child in my classroom smile and laugh with this simple tool. With all the cut backs in education my students simply see pictures or paper cut out of things we (adults) and society uses on a daily basis. Their background knowledge on everyday simple items is not there. You will directly provide them this fun opportunity!
