Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students these days are incredibly tech savvy. This intelligence should be fostered by providing the students safe, age appropriate applications that will lead them into a deeper understanding of today's Core Curriculum.

Our school is a wonderful place for students to engage and develop a multitude of skills.

The poverty rate, though, is extremely high with over 91% of students receiving free lunch. Many of the students do not have access to on-line applications when not in the classroom because they either do not have computers with Internet access at home or they are not able to visit the local public library to use the resources there. Many students, therefore, stay after school in hopes of using the two computers that we have in our classroom. Unfortunately, with 26 students, not everyone gets on when they want to. My students thrive on the computer-based and on-line applications that further their educational needs.

My Project

The students in this classroom will have the ability to strengthen their academic skills without crowding around the two classroom computers with this mini iPad. They will be able to interact with flashcards, dissect living things, go on virtual field trips, and read to their hearts content right from the comfort of their personal spaces.

This project will help the students be more independent thinkers and allow them the opportunity to learn more about topics that interest them with this mini iPad.

Students will feel the instant gratification that comes with on-line learning as well as fall in "iLove with Learning".
