My Students

Big room - tiny pieces. What will it take to see the lesson? My students have difficulty seeing the details on objects I try to model in class. A document camera hooked up to our computer would alleviate the problem.

Our intermediate level school has roughly 830 fifth and sixth grade students.

I work with all of the students throughout the school year in 'rotations' (or groups) of about 170 students, broken down into eight homerooms per rotation. Each homeroom has 18 class periods scheduled. Additionally, I run an after-school program for the same population of students. Roughly 100 students participate in this activity during the school year.

My Project

Allowing students to clearly see the tiny objects I try to showcase in class would be done most efficiently and effectively with a quality document camera where all students can see well at the same time. This project is important to my students as they often struggle with recognizing small components of objects I try to showcase in class.

Carrying the objects from student to student, or taking still pictures ahead of time is not as helpful as being able to immediately showcase something in detail when needed.

This project will help over 800 students!
