My Students

If we are going to prepare our children for the 21st-century workforce we literally, and figuratively, need to get with the program. My students are a motivated group of fourth graders. They attend our community school in Southern California with a total population of about 750 kids.

Why do the classrooms look the same as they did 30 years ago?

It can be frustrating for teachers who want to equip their classrooms with the most current technology. Kids today have so many impressive and amazing tools available to them, but the funding just isn't there, from pencil sharpeners to laptop computers. We need to prepare children for their futures, which will be very different from the world today. A different world requires a different approach to education. That is what I strive to provide to my students.

My Project

Education needs to be rigorous, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun, too! The Educational Insights Eggspert game will turn our classroom into an exciting arena of trivia and teamwork.

Even the most well-written and well-researched lessons suffer when there is a lack of motivation.

Contemporary research has explored the possibility of implementing game theory as a motivational tool in classrooms with children of all ages. The Eggspert brings game theory to life, employing "gamification" to maximize buy-in from students. It also gives teachers the freedom to design varied levels of questioning that meet the needs of diverse learners.
