Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the most effective ways for kindergarteners to learn is through hands-on experience. Incorporating technology into the learning experience will help immensely. Having a classroom iPad will allow my students to work on their academic and social skills while having fun learning.

I teach kindergarten in a public school located in New York City.

I have 25 curious, motivated students who are always excited about learning and playing. As the children's primary teacher, I am responsible for all aspects of their development. One method I utilize to help teach my students is hands-on experience and play.

My Project

In the school, resources are scarce, especially with budget cuts in NYC. I would like to provide my kindergarten students with technology that will help them explore, play, and learn. Play provides students with opportunities to try new skills with little risk of criticism and failure. It also brings students together and helps them learn to cooperate and work with one another. Kindergarteners learn best through play and hands-on experiences. We will use the iPad to explore basic skills such as reading, spelling, and numbers. The iPad will also allow us to read online stories together as well as help us work on our fine motor skills. An iPad has many educational apps that support student learning; the possibilities are endless. The iPad will be used in small groups, and for one-to-one activities.

With your assistance, my students will have the opportunity to experience learning in a fun way that allows them to express themselves, strengthen their fine motor and language skills, and build friendships through play and technology.
