My students are first grade students that are eager to learn! They are curious, energetic and thrive on hands-on learning. They are a very diverse class all with individual needs. They are hard workers who deserve the necessities to be successful. I have a variety of learners with and without disabilities. My students need visual supports as well as sensory tools in order to be successful in an inclusion setting.
My classroom is a place where ALL students can learn no matter what.
I plan with students' strengths and weaknesses in mind so that I am meeting their maximum learning potential. My students come from all over the city of Boston and have a wide range of backgrounds. It is my job to give them the education that they deserve and to develop lifelong habits for learning.
My Project
These iPads will enhance the learning that I strive to create. Our current iPads are over ten years old with old applications that can not be updated. We can not update to newer software which make the iPads run slow and many of the applications no longer work. We use these iPads in correlation with the assessments we give in first grade. One of the reading assessments has a program where it matches the students needs based on the assessments. Each student is matched to their assessments and what they need to work on to be successful in school. They focus on foundational skills such as initial sounds, vowels, sight words and vocabulary.
These skills are essential for reading and writing in first grade and beyond.
These iPads will allow students to work independently and focus on the skills they need.having a visual and also an interactive program allows for differentiate instruction. This is especially benefits to my special education students as well. Having newer iPads will greatly impact my student learning while keeping learning fun!
