Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom begins with my students eagerly waiting outside. As they pour in, they begin to look at my table where I lay out the materials for our experiments to see if we will do one today.

My students come from a very low income area.

They do not let their personal situations at home hinder their learning growth. My kids are a group of 100 5th graders, who are fighting the stereotype that society has placed on them. They come to class wanting to learn and have a goal to attend any middle school they choose to go to, not just the one they are zoned to. At my campus we have a saying " where the path to college begins'', this is what we teach our students. My campus teaches our students that no matter what your background is, we want you to strive for academic success and be the leader that you are.

My Project

The 6 Snap Circuits Physics kits, Pre-cut foamboard, a lead set, and lightbulbs I am asking for will help my students get a hands on learning experience when it come to circuits. The students will use the foam-boards to create a STEAM project. The students will draw a picture on the boards and will need to create a circuit with the other materials to light it up.

The donations to this activity will allow my students to learn about circuits and switches.

This activity will meet all different levels of learning styles that my students have. These kits are truly hands on and allows my students to think outside the box. The STEM project will engage my students to become creative.
