Help me give my students book making kits for the opportunity to create their own unique stories.

My Project
I work in a low income area of New York City, with students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing. I work as a related service provider, seeing my students individually or in small groups to work on skills such as comprehension, articulation and self advocacy.
My students are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing and they are the most creative, energetic and spunky students around.
They love to read and write, but unfortunately, don't have many opportunities to read books with characters who are similar to them.
Who better to write a book with Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing characters than Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing children? Giving my students the opportunity to not only draft a story from start to end, but create a story that would be meaningful to others, would be an amazing way to build their self confidence. They would learn all about the writing process and how to create stories from brainstorming all the way to publishing.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
