Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are funny, energetic and simply sweet as can be. Many of them experience food insecurity in addition to housing challenges, so it's my desire to have plenty of snacks to help fuel these young minds. It's incredibly difficult to focus when your stomach is growling. We find that many of our students look for additional food even after eating a full breakfast and lunch, so, having a variety of snacks ready to share with the students is a game changer. We can use food for math and science lessons to teach counting and patterning and lessons about where food comes from. Possibilities are endless, when the mind is clear and focused.
