Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students walk into school each day excited and ready for the day ahead. They work hard and they love learning new things. Many of my students are learning English and learning to thrive in a new environment. There are 20 different languages spoken at my school. For some of my students, school is the only place they are exposed to a wide range of reading material and academic support. My goal is to prepare my students to pursue lives of continuous learning and service in our diverse, global society. I hope to instill a love of reading for my students. All of your support and contributions will be greatly appreciated and will directly go to support students learning how to read.
My Project
My students need leveled readers that are exciting and engaging. Kindergarten students are expected to independently read on a level 6 by the end of the year. To make this possible, students participate in guided reading groups daily. They are enthusiastic and excited to be learning this new skill. Having both non-fiction and fiction texts will provide them with reading material that is both fun and educational. My students get tired of reading the same, outdated books over and over again. Having more variety during reading instruction will allow my students more opportunities to practice reading books on their level.
