My Project

Mary Pettibone Poole once said, “To repeat what others have said requires education, to challenge it requires brains.” At our school, we are working on both. We are teaching our students all about the brain, how it works, the different aspects of the brain and what functions each part of the brain is responsible for. To help our students better understand and remember the location of the different lobes of the brain we are making “thinking caps.” The students will research the attributes and proportions of the brain and then use the sharpie markers to draw the different lobes of the brain on the white caps. Then when they put their caps on it will help them to visually see where the different lobes are located because they will be drawn and written on the caps. Through research and the completion of their hats, the students will have built greater knowledge about this system in our body. We are also tying this project into a social-emotional activity, which will provide our students the opportunity to practice their critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities.

Having these items will help inspire our students to learn about their brain and use their minds and critical thinking skills.

Your donation to this project will help us to build enthusiasm in their learning. Embedded in the Common Core Standards is the process of critical thinking. Thank you for helping our school to work towards their potential and learn about their brain.
