My Students

Welcome to Ms. Sadagursky's 8th grade math class! A classroom full of diverse learners, each with his or her own learning style and ability. Albert Einstein once said, "Knowing, accepting and loving who you are is the first step in becoming who you can be." A quote often referred to in our class.

I am currently an eighth grade Mathematics teacher in a high needs middle school.

Many of the students in my school are struggling financially. Most students in the school (+65%) qualify for the state's reduced meal program. We have a high special education population. Over 30% of the student population receive special services. We also have large ESL (English as a Second Language) population, many who have recently moved to our country. Students lack necessary basic math skills and fundamentals. They come to school each day to obtain an education that many others in their family were not fortunate enough to receive. Students are not privileged to have current technology that other kids their age have. My school has suffered from budget cuts and we are unable to provide students with technology resources they desire and would benefit immensely from having. My students are diverse learners and need a technology component to meet the demands of modern teaching.

My Project

With 32-35 students in a class, it is extremely difficult to teach a lesson in which each students' learning styles and needs are met. Most students are below grade level and require intervention and remedial activities before they can tackle the difficulty of the Common Core Learning Standards. Many are visual and kinesthetic leaners and yearn for a method of tackling their deficiencies without differentiated worksheets. The common core demands that teachers create and design lessons integrating technology to actively engage all learners and prepare students to be college and career ready. Home not being an option for the students to use technology, school is the only place they will be able to have the opportunity to experience all that technology has to offer. Through the use of an iPad mini, my students will gain a well-rounded education that provides them with more challenges, more engagement, and learning to meet their individual interests and needs.

With your generous donation, my students can be part of the 21st century of learning.

They can learn the necessary fundamental skills so they can meet the needs of the demanding curriculum. Students of all ability levels with have their needs met with engaging differentiated instruction. They can see all the great offerings technology has and can gain a sense of self confidence that so many of them lack.
