My Students

My students are driven children who are motivated to learn, no matter the challenges they are faced with. As a SPED teacher in a low-income school in Brooklyn, NY, I want to provide my students with the best possible education while working in a blended learning module. My classroom is an SPED kindergarten-second grade classroom of ten kids. Some are general education students but most are students with disabilities. They are all super adorable kids. We have thirty percent English Language Learners (ENL) and seventeen percent students with disabilities. We thank you in advance and appreciate any help you can give us.

My Project

My students come eager to learn on Google Meet every day. This 2020-2021 school year has already presented many challenges for my students. Starting my first year as a SPED teacher in person and then going fully remote then to working in a blended learning module has had its challenges. We have thirty percent English Language Learners (ENL) and one hundred percent students with disabilities and disorders. Being able to provide my students with interactive lessons through the use of an iPad would be of utmost support to my students.

I create many lessons for math, literacy, phonics, and social emotional learning, where reading and modeling proper handwriting are essential for students to see.

When using programs such as Smart Notebook, I am unable to write and model problems properly through the use of a laptop mouse. An iPad would enable me to present my lessons in a proper way for my students to learn and get the most out of distance learning.

Additionally, many of my students use iPads from the school and when sharing my screen with them on Google Meet, it would be helpful to model exactly what they need to do using the same device that they are using.
