"When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind." This is the theme from the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. At the end of the school year, I hope students remember the lessons learned about how to treat someone who may be a little different from everyone else.
As a librarian, I work with students in K-5.
For this project in particular I will be working with fourth graders. They are fun loving and eager to learn. My school is innovative and moving past paper and pencil activities. We have learned that a test is not the only way to assess student learning. We want to see what our students can do!
My Project
I am requesting 80 copies of the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Every fourth grader in our school will be provided access to the book, for years to come. Through this story, students will learn acceptance, kindness, compassion, and empathy. Students will learn about achieving dreams and putting life into perspective.
I hope to think that all of our fourth graders will be touched by this story.
I hope it changes the way they interact with other people and the choices they make for a long time to come. I hope it teaches students acceptance, kindness, compassion, and empathy.
