Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of our students want to learn about music at least once in their lives and in our class we will be tapping into all aspects of music with our Music unit. Our young scholars learn new vocabulary and a new language through music. In class all of these different instruments will provide the opportunity for the kids to learn about them, play in the classroom and create different sounds and melodies that will help them enjoy learning and supporting their language skills at the same time. This helps them with the basic idea of steady beat in the songs and it also helps to build the self-esteem that they need. These instruments are great for the kids because they can practice on their own, get comfortable with knowing the different instrument families and learn about famous musicians.

The keyboard and other different instruments will play many roles in the program for the students.As they progress, they will be able to do team and independent work to build musicianship and to be able to practice socialization.

They will learn how to collaborate, learn different cultural music genres and develop great conversational skills. The drum sets and guiros will help them celebrate diversity in the program for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to play instruments in class without sensory overload. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but will create a lifetime love for music and fine arts for our young scholars.
