Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have emotional needs and want an outlet to express themselves. They want to use music and movement to tell a story, their story. They can feel free to feel and express their anxieties through movement. This class boosts their confidence and provides with a tool to release anxiety. Gives them the strength to be vulnerable and use their bodies to show their emotions. Music and a stage will be the platform my students use to share their stories and bring others into their world, culture, and emotions. My students are sensitive and excited to have a platform where they can feel safe to dance and move to show their emotions. If funded my project asks for a speaker which we will use to play soothing sounds when we are feeling anxious. We will also use it to hear the different cultural music my students want to share with each other. Additionally I asked for snacks and water to provide them with a little boost since we have a very long day at our school. My students meet with me till 6pm on certain days. The scenery and backdrop supplies will provide my students with a fun place to perform and express themselves. Ice packs are a precaution in the event someone is hurt and the nurse is not available at all times of the day. I'm hopeful and very excited to reach out and ask for your help to support my students with this ongoing struggle of belonging.
