My Students
I teach eighth-grade science in a small, rural Tennessee town. We are in a high-poverty area, and many of my students do not always have the same opportunities as students in urban areas.
Creating the ideal classroom environment is critical to academic success.
My students are inquisitive, eager to learn, and love new challenges! Our new curriculum is project-based and enables all students to work independently through the required work. Progress is monitored through checkpoints, and students can easily see how they are progressing through their 8th-grade work.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to expand my students' horizons. Providing them with activities that stretch their brains and provide them with a challenge will motivate and engage my students.
My Project
The Earth is a Dynamic, Living planet and my 8th grade students get to learn about how it moves in Science this year. Plate tectonics is one of the standards we cover, and yet is is the most difficulty for my students to understand.
This is because it is difficult to visualize the Earth moving on a daily basis.
This plate tectonics demonstration kit will provide my students with the opportunity to actually see how our planet moves, what is created and destroyed and how wonderful our Earth actually is.
