My students need 34 books about art and famous artists so that we can broaden our learning in the arts as we create our own masterpieces based on the works of these artists.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I am a new Art Teacher but I have been teaching in the regular elem. classroom for the last 13 years. I changed from the classroom to an art teacher because I have a love of the arts and feel it is vital part of our children's education. These books can help with sharing that love of art.
I teach over 700 students in grades kindergarten - fifth.
Our school is in a suburb of Nashville, TN and we are growing at an extreme rate with people of all cultures and backgrounds moving to the area. Most of these students have not had exposure to the arts and some have never had an art class.
My Project
These books will be used by all students in grades K-5th. Many of the books I choose go with specific projects and artists that I have chosen to teach this school year. Throughout the year, I will read specific books to certain grades to go with the project and artist that grade will be learning about. Also, all of the books would be available to the students to read during times in art class when they finish their work.
Literature and the teacher being able to sit and read to the students always make an impact and a difference.
Having books in the art class will expand my lesson to be able to reach more students and make the lesson more enriched. I also have students that are in resource classes and so I choose some of the books (touch the art books) that have textures and things they can feel to allow them to also have an experience with the arts and an appreciation for the works.
