Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because they have a true desire to learn and be the best individuals possible. My student body is made of students from many cultural backgrounds. Many of my students come from low-income homes. My school is a melting pot and we strive as educators to provide our students with the best education possible. My goal as an educator is to instill in my students the love of education and teach them to work hard to achieve their goal educational, as well as personal, to the best of their abilities.

My students inspire me every day to be the best I can be.

They are always willing to try and learn a concept even when it becomes challenging. They have a wonderful mindset of never giving up and working hard to the best of their abilities. I stress to my students that as long as they have truly given it their best, then I am happy. I stress the importance of growing as a person, both academically and personally.

My Project

My students are all reading one and two grade levels below standards. When it's time to read my students lose interest. They are not motivated to read, in part because they are not drawn in, they can't relate to the characters physically or culturally. The books will enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place where my students really enjoy as they read independently!

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level and allow them to see themselves in the characters.

They will be able to make connections. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My hope is that my students will show more interest in independent reading, and this project will help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
