"Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important." Bill Gates. Having an extra tool for every student will create more opportunities for motivation and collaboration. This tool will support my teaching.
My school is in a low social-economic community in Brooklyn.
Most of my students come from single households. My students have been classified with a disability that hinders their learning process. I am a special education teacher who provides special education support services to students from grades Kindergarten to 8th grade. I provide push in and pull out services. For the students with pull out services, I provide small group instruction in a separate location. We all know that each student learn differently and require differentiated instruction to reach their needs. My students are eager to receive extra support services in ELA and Math, but as a teacher I feel I can reach them even more if I had the option of having more tablets as another resource.
My Project
I am requesting 4 tablets that can assist all my students in improving the skills they are struggling in. If my students have the 4 tablets each student will have the opportunity to explore activities to build their math fluency and reading skills. The students can use programs that my school has purchased to enrich these skills. I will be able to reach more students with apps and books geared to their independent level.
Having 4 tablets donated can improve my classroom because I would be able to differentiate my students instructional level through technology.
My students will have the opportunity to learn through technology and will be more motivated and eager to participate and enjoy using a tablet. The tablet will enable endless opportunities and new learning experiences.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
